General News Concering FS

Thank you Casey for the awesome header.

Last to Update: Lightstar.

Please note you should make a new account for each character and the name of the account should relate to the character (ex: Warrior name: Blackmoss. username: moss.)

We just started, so expect things to move a little slow until territories are set up and leaders, deputies and medicine cats are chosen.

Inactive members will be deleted. They are:

There will be no plot until every Clan has the main ranks (deputy, leader and medicine cat) as well as two warriors, one apprentice, a queen and one kit (bare minimum.)

Unofficial Clan Gathering:

(News from the admins)

News From Hawkstar

BirchClan is just starting up... We have a queen and her two kits and me. We need a medicine cat most of all (Blizzardpaw, please consider changing your desired rank to medicine cat), as well as a deputy, warriors, apprentices, queens, kits and elders. Elders are part of a Clan...

News From Mercystar

Sadly, most of the other clans have more to say for them selves than OakClan. I'll be getting the territories up soon, but otherwise there isn't much to say.

Conratulations to Stormclaw though, for we finally have a deputy. And, he is the first real cat other than the leader present. Good job Stormclaw.

News From Lightstar

Casey says you're welcome for the header. <3 Anyway, RowanClan has nothing but like. A queen. ._. I want deputy and medicine cat applications first, then we'll get into the warrior and apprentice stuffs. I...really think that's all. MAYBE. One is the loneliest number.

News From Burntstar

Eh, hello folks. Kits and warriors are lovely, but a deputy & Medicine cat would be terrific.

Oh yeah. I'll be getting territories up. Until then. Roleplay on the three provided. (:

Current Season : Leafbare.

Current Weather : Frigid, frequent snowstorms, low: -20°F, high: 30°F.

Current Prey : Despite the cold temperatures, no Clans are starving. Prey scuffles in the snow, and sometimes whole packs of mice can be found by breaking into one of their camps. (Mice actually do make tunnels under the snow.)

Current Plot : None.

Next Gathering : August 15th. (Tenative date.)

ROLEPLAY
BirchClan Territory
[ ]BirchClan Camp
The camp of BirchClan is in a shadowed clearing in the forest. Brambles and thorns protect the camp on all sides, with a small exit for cats inside the camp. Thorns pointing out of the exit prevent cats from entering. An entrance lies on the other side of a tree between the two holes, with thorns pointing in that restrict exiting. Kits are taught the difference at an early age.

An oak stump, where a squirrel had buried its acorn from OakClan territory long ago, marks the leader's den. From the top, Hawkstar can make announcements for his whole Clan to hear.

The warriors sleep in moss nests near the entrance of the camp to guard it from intruders. The apprentices sleep in similar beds on the exit side to assist the warriors.

Kits and queens nest in a cracked rock on the far side of the clearing. The inside of the rock is large enough for five queens and their kits to nest in the feather beds they're provided with. A crack in the side allows queens, kis and light through, but protects them from the elements. It's the safest place in the camp.

The elders rest in a burnt out oak log, probably the same tree that the leader's den once was. Beds of feather and moss line the log, creating a comfortable home for the elders.

Finally, the medicine cat stores her herbs in the back of a dome of bramble. Sick cats sleep in moss beds around the edge, and the medicine cat herself rests in a moss bed near the entrance. Her apprentice sleeps in a group of ferns just right of the entrance.

[ ]Blood Red River
The Blood Red River is not actually blood red. Red clay deposits near the banks gave it the name when it was swollen during a newleaf rainstorm and the water ran red.

Rocks now cover the bottom, and the river is crystal clear. BirchClan cats can fish and swim here and the river provides the cats with easy-to-access water and fresh-kill.

The deepest point is near the gorge, where water pours down in a beautiful waterfall. The plunge is terrifying, but most cats who fall in make it out alive if they keep their mouth shut in the periods that they're underwater.

At the end of the waterfall there is a deep pool, about fifteen tail-lengths to the bottom. It's still crystal clear all the way down...

[ ]Thunder Falls
The thundering sound of the waterfall gave this piece of territory its name. From the gorge, there is a waterfall that is almost thirty tail-lengths tall. A terrifying fall that some cats can survive creates a deep pool at the end of the falls. The pool leads on into OakClan territory as a raging river with many rapids.

But in the pool of the Thunder Falls, cats swim and fish near the edges, which are rocky and slicked by the water. But most cats can maintain a footing and swim to safety even if they fall in. But few cats dare go to the center of the pool, where a dangerous undertow from the waterfall threatens to drown any cat foolhardy enough.

[ ]Haunted Shrine
The Graveyard of BirchClan is called the Haunted Shrine. It's said that on the full moon, spirits of deceased cats walk the soil. Those who were violent in nature will try to kill any cat that comes on the full moon, while the ones who were kinder will offer advice and reassurance.

The Haunted Shrine nests in a clearing. Many herbs grow well here from the decaying bodies of dead cats, and medicine cats often visit the Shrine to collect herbs.

But little grass grows, as cats are digging new graves every now and then, thus destroying any grass that pops up. But ivy has sprouted and snared the trees that circle the clearing.

[ ]Training Hollow
Yet another clearing in the birch forest, this time covered in sand to soften falls during training. The sand is upturned by the paws of many generations, and even more mentor-apprentice pairs are using it.

The sand thins out near the edges and if a cat were to dig, they would eventually strike soil, suggesting the sand was brought in by Twolegs instead of nature.

Kits also come here to play sometimes under the watchful eyes of their mothers. The sand is soft enough for them to fight each other and not get hurt if one is thrown. It is also a popular place for cats to bask in the warm sun that heats the sand to a comfortable temperature. On nice sunny days, cats can be seen sharing tongues and snoozing on their off time.

[ ]Huntingrocks
A scattering of rocks near the Blood Red River and the border between BirchClan and RowanClan. This territory is often fought over, as it is a good place to hunt (hence the name).

Mice, voles and water voles are often found here, nesting among the reeds at the edges of the River. But snakes hunt here too and sun themselves on the rocks, so cats must be careful when hunting here. But most snakes aren't poisonous, so the only thing cats have to fear is a nasty bite wound.

Twolegs come here sometimes during green-leaf to fish with their strange sticks. The prey near Huntingrocks is used to the twolegs company, so they don't flee Huntingrocks during green-leaf. Cats, however, postpone their hunting until after the twolegs have left the rocks for the day.

[ ]Rapid River
A raging, rapid river that marks the border between BirchClan and OakClan. Stepping stones in one of the calm spots allow cats to cross with important messages if neccessary or raid each other...

In the calm spots it's easy to fish, but any fish caught in the Rapid River by BirchClan would be stolen. True, the Rapid River does spawn from the Blood Red River, but it was considered OakClan's territory from day one.

Often cats meet on either side of the river near the steppingrocks and fight over borders or relay messages. But most often there are fights near the Rapid River's banks, so the ground is torn up on both sides of the calm spot.

OakClan Territory
[ ]OakClan Camp
The dense Oak forest eventually gives way to a sudden dip in the land, a valley. The valley is surrounded by forest on three sides, and the last side is simply just... open.

In the center of the valley there is a mixture of random bolders. One boulder lays flat on the ground, like a simple slab, and a few other lay in stacked positions around it. A few of those boulders are proped up against each other so that there is a little cavern like space, that is where the leader sleeps. Above, is where the OakClan meeting place is.

Other than that, the cats of OakClan prefer to sleep out in the open. The queens and elders may find some other crevices within the rocks, but other than that its the good outdoors, and the stars.

The medicine cat is a bit farther off from the main part of camp. To find her you must leave the small valley and travle up to the tree line, where you'll find two fallen trees proped against on another. Defense isn't exactly easy, because all of your priorities are a bit split between camp and the medicine cat.

Getting to the camp is pretty hard though if you don't know how, the surrounding forest is the real hard part, becuase is it so thick and seems to go on forever. You are almost gaunteed to be lost if you are an oncoming clan. The best way to attack though, is from the side unprotected by forest... if you can find how to get over there.

[ ]Oakwood Paths
At the Rapid River side of the border, nearly a hundred feet back a forest begins. The forest is consists mostly of Oak, hence the name. Twolegs long ago hiked through this forest, but have long since forgotten this place. Only distended paths remain..

Some of the paths seem to go on forever, and some simply travle to the Dead Feild, one path though.. heads for the camp. Cats are the only ones who really use these paths now a days, either to hunt or to travel.. Be careful which one you pick though.

This forest is sort of like a giant wall, meant to keep things inside... and out. Eventually, though, the forest thins out near the center, giving way to OakClan's more favorable territory...

A raging, rapid river that marks the border between BirchClan and OakClan. Stepping stones in one of the calm spots allow cats to cross with important messages if neccessary or raid each other...

Even though it is a border, it is still considered part of OakClan's territory. So if you are a BirchClan cat you better not be taking any fish.

Believe it or not though, it isn't always as 'Rapid' as the name states, there is a few calm spots, otherwise how else would cats fish. So, seeing as those spots would be the prime spots to fish, they would also be prime places to cross, and as a result the ground is torn up in various spots.

RowanClan Territory
[ ]RowanClan Camp

Fallen trees decorate the camp, and provide the cats with shelter in their structured placement. A lightening bolt struck one tree, now fallen, burned, and rotting, which then caused others to fall at its mercy as it tumbled to the earth. Since tree limbs, stumps, and trunks are all fallen and woven together, its quite unknown just how many trees fell before the cats called the mess their camp.

However, the jumble of limbs and arrangement of the trees placement provides for great shelter and a secure base. Nestled inside of the tangled and entwined branches, are the dens and nests that these cats use as their sleeping quarters. There is only one way in, and one way out, making it a rather hard attempt to get in and out.

The fresh-kill pile is nestled in a small and quaint hole, most often than not, piled with at least four or five pieces constantly—aside from leaf-bare. The pile is kept near the elder’s denning area, just incase there isn’t an apprentice to grab it for them.

Warriors and apprentices are given dens just under the wide trunk of a fallen tree, with a moss-covered stone to provide protection from the winds. Small, individual nests are dug out, and lined with bird feathers and moss for warmth. Apprentices also share the same type of denning, on the opposing side of the camp—yet instead of a mossy stone, the tall stump of a tree provides their den’s backing.

Elders keep themselves by the medicine cat’s den, in a wide dugout just underneath the entangled branches of an oak. Ferns and the like have been placed on top, and woven into the limbs to keep out rain and the elements. The medicine cat’s, both mentor and apprentice, sleep near here, under a rock that protrudes from the ground.

And, finally, the leader—not far from the medicine cat’s den—sleeps just under a second rock. A great deal has been dug out, by past generations, and the deepest set has been lined with moss and bird feathers. Here, the leader is an undisturbed, from the elements and noisy cat above.

[ ]Training Bed

Nearing the southern part of RowanClan’s territory, is a dried out stream; part of the original system that winds its way through random parts of the forest. The streambed is no longer wet and damp with the trickling water it used to hold, but instead, is home to the tiny pebbles that decorated the brook’s floor.

Now the streambed is used for training apprentices, mainly in the area of stealth, fighting, and hunting. Due to the nature of the forest—and it’s dense foliage—most apprentices aren’t trained on the forest floor until they’ve grown used to the stony surface of the streambed.

[ ]The Forest

Hundreds of tall, beautiful, well-leafed trees adorn RowanClan’s territory. An incredible amount of their territory—all of it, to say the least—is forest. The canopy is tightly woven, but elegant shafts of sunlight (or moonlight, depending on the time of day of course) sparkle through the spaces between branches.

On the ground, cats can find a thick entanglement of brush and brambles, in some places, too dense to travel through. In other places, random gray stones push up through the soil and litter the ground; much like they do on the boarder with MapleClan, and in the camp.

A collection of prey can be found scampering through the underbrush. Anything from a mouse, to a thrush, and even the occasional snake, can make its way to the clan’s fresh-kill pile.

Moderators: Hawkstar, Lightstar
00
[ ]Spiderstreams

Small narrow creeks snake their way through RowanClan territory, some stopping abruptly to puddle in a random ditch, others continuing to flow on out of the area. Of course, some are larger than others, but most of the largest travel in unmanageable areas; such as, underneath thickets and entangled brambles.

Only a small assortment of fish, mainly minnows and crawfish, dwell in the waters, offering up a light snack for cats who’ve come out to hunt near the streams. Water voles, shrews, mice, birds, and snakes make themselves at home on the small shores of the streams, but offer up a tasty addition to the clan’s fresh-kill pile.

Moderators: Hawkstar, Lightstar
00
[ ]Tallstones

These rocks provide a wealthy sunning spot for snakes and lizards of all kinds; but also provide the border between MapleClan and RowanClan. Aside from that, Tallstones can play host to an abundance of other prey. Such as mice, birds, and perhaps the less frequent water vole.

Only older cats and warriors might venture out here; it's strictly off limits to any apprentice because of the dangerous adders and neighboring clan. It's easy to get lost out on the rocks, one could easily get caught going in circles…

Moderators: Hawkstar, Lightstar
00
[ ]Huntingrocks

A disputable border, at that! Huntingrocks marks the territories between BirchClan and RowanClan; but is often fought over due to the fact that it’s a wonderful hunting area—which gave the border its name. All types of rodents, and the like, settle in the reeds by the river, which runs through BirchClan, but snakes also eat here too. Not many are lethal, so the most threat a cat would expect would be a nasty, infected wound.

In the hot days of greenleaf, two-legs come to fish in the river, casting out their sticks to catch plump fish on the end. The native prey are used to the two-legs, so they don’t flee; but cats will clearly wait until the two-legs have gone before hunting.

MapleClan Territory
[ ]MapleClan Camp
The Mapleclan camp is set in the forest amongst the side of a rock wall. An outcropping at about the twelve foot point serves as the high rock, where smaller rocks jut out beneath it to provide access. Beneath it to the left is a crack in the rock face that serves enough room for a cat to walk in. The inside hollows out and provides a good medicine cat’s den, having shelves and small holes within the rock where herbs can be stored, as well as a large area that can hold around five cats, more if needed. Across from the high rock is a boulder formation where Burntstar makes his den. Three cats can comfortably fit inside, four for a squeeze.

Next to the leader’s den is a large bush, which umbrellas into the side of the boulder. The warriors sleep here for obvious camp protection reasons. Across from the warriors den, against the rock face is a den made of woven gorse. Apprentices sleep here for obvious reasons as well. In the back is a large maple stump, hollowed out on the inside. This can fit about three elders, which is plenty because Mapleclan isn’t known to have many elders at once. Next to the stump is an azalea bush which serves as the nursery. It has plenty of room for kits to live in, just so long as the moss is changed frequently.

The whole camp itself is bordered by thorns and thicket everywhere other than the rock face. A small tunnel was cleared for an entrance, and it is well hidden, so it proves to be hard for enemy cats to find their way in.

[ ]The Ruins (Old Cottage)
This is an elegant area of hillsides. Though the hills do not seem to cascade smoothly and are rather cliffs, though flow smoother at either end. The craggy rocks on the walls host areas of nurturing soil in something almost equivalent to flower pots, where small amounts of poppies and wild daisy grow in each individual pocket. Branching off the main stream is a medium sized brook with a swift yet soft flow which decant, gliding from rock to rock in a small but glorious waterfall, which eventually leads away toward the main river. The top of the hill remains flat and meadow-like, with the exception of the dip in ground that holds the brook. Tall birches and maples scatter the area; though despite the size seem to reflect youth, proceeding to lightly forest the plateau allowing the lush grass to be dappled with golden beams of sunlight, most of the year.

In the early 1900’s this was thought to be a humble vacationing area. Upon the hillside several lovely cottages were built in hopes for summer renting. It was for awhile, before something caused the people to leave and the houses to vanish. It is thought to be a fire that spread the area and burnt down each individual cottage, driving those away. The only reminisce of the human existence is a small bridge about six feet long and two feet wide which extends over the brook, one chimney about three feet tall in the middle of it all, a few charred shingles surrounding the chimney, and the daffodils. These magnificent yellow flowers, brought by the people, managed to survive the fire and spread over the past decades, never ceasing to return in the spring and flourish all through summer. Despite the fact that the area once belonged to humans, the cats of Mapleclan cannot help but feel comforted here.

[ ]Starlight River
Right beside Rowanclan’s tall stones, rests a river. Though tall stones are the official border, which puts the river within Mapleclan’s borders, Mapleclan often considers the river to be a prime border. Though there is a few yards between the border and the river, Maple clan won’t patrol it, for the strip of land is so small there is little point in crossing the river to do so. Mapleclan won’t take kindly to stolen fish but plenty of prey will cross into Rowanclan territory simply to bask at tall stones.

The river was granted the name starlight river for some obvious reasons. The current proves to be fairly slow (though the water is deep) and at night allows the reflections of stars to be brilliantly shown on clear nights. Mapleclan takes pride in this river, for its beauty. Despite the slow motion, the river is potentially dangerous for a cat that cannot swim well. While the first few yards inward will not surpass a full grown cat’s head, the water toward the middle is dark, a good warning of depth. The river is five feet at the deepest, and though not particularly unfathomable, it is easy for cats to drown.

A stream branches off the main river and runs through the interior of Mapleclan territory, passing across the ruins and between the east and west forest. In reality, the stream was probably what saved the whole territory.

A number of small prey types can be caught here. Mice, voles, water voles, rabbits, and occasionally birds… not to mention fish are the most common, and abundant throughout the year. Even some ducks released by two legs bred over the years, but are generally large for cats. Geese show up occasionally, but only a starving three cat patrol would be able to catch one.

[ ]West Forest
Probably Mapleclan’s prime and signature trademark is the long stretch of vast maple forest. The west forest rests within the interior of Mapleclan territory, and is always ablaze with life with the exception of the winter, where many of the forest’s abundance are in hibernation. The trees are nearly all maple trees, obviously, but upon better observation they are mostly Sugar Maples, with a few red and silver doused between, and the species shifting more to Mountain Maples with the gaining altitude of the nearby mountains.

There are two seasons that stick out the most here, which are spring and autumn. In spring, the ‘helicopter’ seeds snap free of their branches which each gust of wind and graze the setting with a stunning show of so many twirling seeds, it may as well have been rain. On the other hand, in autumn, the leaves turn from a luscious green into vigorously brilliant shades of bright red, merlot, orange, and gold. Summer creates a cozy and lush area, and winter can even look stunning when the branches and sticks are glazed with ice, though the popping and caving of weight can be dangerous.

In prey, birds, mice, and voles are most abundant though the occasional hare can be seen. Beware though, foxes and badgers can be drawn to this place by the potential dens, food source… and cats. Most of these are chased out nearly as soon as they come in, but there is always a chance a new visitor has traipsed across the borders. For that reason, an inexperienced apprentice, or even warrior shouldn’t really wander alone.

A branch off the river separates the Western half from it’s eastern counterpart.

No Clan Territory
[ ]Fourtrees
Far different from the Fourtrees in the original territory of ThunderClan, RiverClan, WindClan and ShadowClan, this Fourtrees consists of four young trees, a birch, an oak, a rowan and a maple. StarClan seems to keep them perpetually young so they are all at the same height...

In the middle, there is a tall boulder where the leaders make their announcements. In the back of the boulder, stone rubble makes an easy path up for the elderly leaders.

The rest of the area within Fourtrees is a small valley, but large enough for every Clan to fit comfortably. There is a spring bubbling near the boulder, where cats can drink during Gatherings.

[ ]Highrocks
A small mountain where leaders come to receive their nine lives, medicine cats speak with StarClan, and apprentices travel before receiving their warrior names.

The mountain itself is only about fifty tail-lengths (approximately 50 ft) to the top, where there is a geyser that shoots out water every four hours, twenty-six minutes and thirty-two seconds. If present at the time of an eruption, cats will get showered with the water of the Stargeyser, and can share tongues with StarClan...

[ ]Twoleg Dens
The Twolegs in the Forest Clans' territories are fairly peaceful, only occasionally venturing far enough into the forests to bother the cats.

The Twoleg dens are closest to RowanClan and MapleClan territories, but few to no cats have been abducted by the Twolegs. Sometimes they have even left offerings of fresh-kill in the forest for the cats.

The kittypets that roam the fences are usually friendly, but they cleave to their soft lives. Only a few kittypets have been interested in joining Clans... and only a select pawfull were accepted.
